McVEIGH, Leona (Braun) Leona (Braun) McVeigh, 91, of Boca Raton, FL, wife of the late Francis J. McVeigh, passed away on Friday (August, 31, 2007). Leona was born in East Hartford on February 9, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Evelena (Caya) Braun. Leona leaves two nieces and a nephew: Marilyn Forbes, Geraldine Hansen and Howard Dann; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Florence Taylor and Constance Dann; a niece Constance Ann Piacente. A Memorial Mass was held on September 6, at St. Ambrose Church, Deerfield Beach, FL. Burial was in Boca Raton Mausoleum, Boca Raton, FL. Babione Funeral Home had care of arrangements. She was a life long member of the Hartford Liederkranz and a 40 year member of the Ladies of The Moose East Hartford Chapter where she received her college regents degree. A Nike spokesman said the shoe company no longer has a relationship with Braun, who was suspended by Major League Baseball for the rest of the season because of his connection to South Florida anti aging clinic Biogenesis and performance enhancing drugs. Braun wore Nike shoes and batting gloves throughout his seven year major league career. Proceeds will be donated to the Jeff Braun Children's Home Foundation, which plans to open an orphanage in Honduras. The show is being produced by about a dozen students of a summer acting camp run by the Family Academy of Music in Stafford.
