"People have said, 'Your posts really made my day,' or 'Your picture helped me get up this morning,' and that's a really good feeling," he says. "I love to make other people happy."A serious cycler, Max completed a 100 mile course during the Rochester Tour de Cure, sponsored by the American Diabetes Association, in 2013.He bikes with the Rochester Cycling Club, and mounts a GoPro camera to his handlebars or to his helmet to create photographs and videos of his sports activities against a backdrop of the city's parks, skyline and public spaces.He also often uses the phone app Aperture to give his photos a creative boost."He's a smart, interested young guy who clearly is very engaged with his surroundings and has a healthy visual appetite," says Bleu Cease, executive director at Rochester Contemporary Art Center on East Avenue. "I see him around the neighborhood, constantly searching and exploring. I love that he is doing all this on two wheels and is so positive about bicycle culture and downtown Rochester."His eagerness was apparent at a young age.When he was 9, Max completed a Nike Mercurial Superfly 2015 piece "Taj Mahal" LEGO kit in less than three days.With two years until high school graduation, he has a resume with a solid objective "To work after school and weekends at a job in which I can both learn and contribute using my creativity, high energy, problem solving and sales skills, sense of aesthetics and strong work ethic."Lawyer and neighbor Jill Schultz hired Max three years ago to take care of her energetic golden retriever, Otis (a female named in honor of the fictional band in National Lampoon's Animal House).Max walks the dog up to four times a day and watches her when Schultz and her husband are away on vacation.
